All you need to know about MTN eSim Cards (See Supported devices and How to activate)

The use of Virtual SIM cards (also referred to as Embedded SIM - "eSim" for short) is now available in Nigeria. This information was made known by the telecommunication provider, MTN.

Are you in thoughts of, "What is an eSim, What is the usefulness of MTN eSim or How can I activate MTN eSim in Nigeria?"..Don't worry, you are not alone in this. The phenomenon eSim might probably be new to you, but I can assure you eSim has been around for quite a while now in some advanced countries.
What is an eSIM?
eSim simply means embedded SIM card. What this means is that, you don't longer need your usual physical SIM card as you have got one already preinstalled for you inside your device. This is cool right? But the reality is that, eSim is still new and most devices don't support it, and if it does support it, it also takes the support of your telecommunication provider to be to able to use it.
Advantages of an eSIM?
With all these hype, what are the advantages of an eSIM? Virtual SIM cards allows you to easily switch between different network operators, so if you travel alot, using eSIM you wouldn't frequently have to bother about getting another SIM card when you are in a new country, all you have to do is switch to another network operator that is allowed in that country.
Switching between network operators allows you to use different numbers in one SIM (in this case it is an eSIM), you can possibly have a separate number for business, personal calls e.t.c

Unlike the physical SIM cards that can store only up to 200 contacts, using eSIM cards you can store more than 200 contacts.
It's an in-built thing, so it minimizes the risk of you damaging or losing your SIM.
You pretty much don't have to worry about cutting your SIM in a wrong way.
Like I said earlier, eSIM is not for supported on all smartphones, but currently we have a couple of devices in Nigeria that is compatible with eSIM.
